Waiting to Exhale

I have two small framed 8" x 10" prints in my office, type written in brush-style calligraphy.

One reads:

breathe

breathe

breathe

breathe

breathe

breathe

breathe

breathe

The other:

exhale.......

This is the part we sometimes forget, or have a hard time with. The part that brings a feeling of relaxation, and completion, release and peace.  The part that's necessary to make room for the next breath. Without a full exhale, we are still hanging on to toxins which make our bodies more acidic and less resistant to disease.

We also don't make enough room for our next breath full of life-giving oxygen.

We take our first breath at the moment of birth. We release our last breath when we die.

Every breath, in and out, a life cycle completed. Over, and over, and over...

Take it in. And let it go.

Really, let it go.

i am in love with the idea of breath. thank you for the reminder to exhale. a poem for you my dear i just reworked yesterday...on the breath. the lover in the poem is actually "self" ~ god within (or one of many other names spirit goes by...) :)

sweetness

suspended in silence
floating above my day
mind stills
breath becomes
one with all

in the stillness
you find me
i feel your warmth...
an intense, hot yellow glow
suspending over me

i breathe in
you out...
out
you in...
connection

radiating like the sun
eyes closed, hearts open
we are one
suspended above the day
an entwined eternal embrace

effort ceasing, we die
if only briefly
self absent
nothing to be done
but breathe with you, my sweetness.

Suzanne.... this is simply lovely. Taking it in. And being inspired by it even further... thank you.

Lovely poem! And I also appreciate the reminder to breathe. Just reading the post relaxed me a little bit. I need to just put that word on my monitor, and my mirror, and in my car, and ... :)
